Welcome to my website about my 2002 roadtrip across America!
Here's the layout of my Route 20 trip across America. The yellow
line marks my route, with the numbers corresponding to major stops along the way. Route 20 doesn't actually start until marker
#10.

Along Route 20 in Eastern Idaho |
I grew up on Route 20 in Bouckville, New York, and it had
been a dream of mine to someday travel its entire length from Newport, Oregon to Boston, Massachusetts. My window of opportunity
came in the summer of 2002.
I was living in Houston, Texas at the time, working in the mall after having lost the job I moved
down there for eight months before. A friend of mine had decided to move to Los Angeles and asked if I would help her move.
I decided that if I did, I wasn't coming back to Houston. I wanted to move back to Syracuse and take the scenic route. I saw
this as a once in a lifetime chance to do one of my dream trips. After Los Angeles, I would drive up the west coast to Oregon,
hang a right on Route 20, and follow it all the way home.
So I packed up my new Ford Ranger
(it only had 10,000 miles on it at the time) and we headed west on June 17th, arriving in L.A. on the 19th. I stayed in L.A.
for a couple of weeks and headed north on my own on July 9th. I reached Newport on July 17th and headed out on Route 20 July
19th. I finally arrived in Syracuse on August 14th. In 2003, over the long Easter weekend, I finally finished the portion
of route 20 from Syracuse to Boston, Massachusetts.
20 states, 8 national parks, 10,000
miles, 74 rolls of film, and 3 oil changes. This trip was an amazing experience that I wouldn't trade for anything and
wouldn't mind doing again someday
